Patriot's Day at Middle School North

Seventh-grade students incorporate their knowledge of colonial life and the Revolutionary War, economics, literature, food, traditions and music into a day of character immersion.  Student actors will partake in opening ceremonies to welcome the colonists to the Village Green where students will sell their handmade wares of colonial times. Afterwards, they will engage in spirited competitions such as tug-of-war, hoop races, quoits (ring toss), relay races and a firing of homemade replica cannons. The day will end with closing ceremonies to celebrate the colonists' newly established country and freedom.  The purpose of this activity is to allow students to incorporate their learning into a fulfilled application and event.
