District 304's Newsletter Wins Award

Entries in the Annual Communications Contest were judged against criteria of excellence by school public relations professionals.

Geneva School District’s quarterly newsletter, “Geneva School News,” received an Annual Communications Contest Award of Merit from the Illinois Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association on Sept. 20.

The newsletter — which highlights District news, events, and Board of Education action — is sent to all Geneva homeowners four times per year and posted on the District’s website. The newsletter was revised in 2012 in an effort to make it more timely, engaging and informative.

“We have so many important and exciting things to share in Geneva School District, and our newsletter is an invaluable tool we use to communicate that information to a great number of people,” said Communications Coordinator Kelley Munch. “We strive to communicate purposefully with our various stakeholder groups, and we are very pleased to receive this award in recognition of our efforts to reach the Geneva community.”

Entries in the Annual Communications Contest were judged against criteria of excellence by school public relations professionals in Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio and Wisconsin. Awards were presented for those entries that received top scores in a variety of areas.

“We are very thankful for and proud of this honor,” said Superintendent Kent Mutchler. “This recognition reflects well on the district’s communication efforts and the work performed daily by Kelley Munch and the rest of the district’s staff and Board of Education.”
