District 101 Adds Viewing for Tuesday's Controversial Levy Hearing

The Board of Education meeting will begin at 6:45 p.m.

The timetable has been moved up and additional viewing options planned for Tuesday's controversial tax-levy public hearing for Batavia School District 101.

Organizers of a movement called "Lower the Levy" promised Thursday that "the small boardroom will be filled to overflowing with Lower the Levy supporters spilling over inconveniently into the hallways of the administrative building."

School officials sent an email Friday saying the regular Board of Education meeting will start at 6:45 p.m. and Tax Levy Public Hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at the Rosalie Jones Administration Center, 335 West Wilson Street.

The Board of Education meeting will begin at 6:45 p.m.

The 2013 Proposed Tax Levy Public Hearing will begin at 7 p.m.

Online Viewing Option

The meetings will be streamed live online on BATV, beginning at 6:45 pm.

Satellite Location

To accommodate additional attendees who do not plan to make public comments, a satellite location will be set up at Batavia High School, located at 1201 Main St.

Meeting proceedings will be broadcast in Room A-101 (located behind the cafeteria) beginning at 6:45 p.m.

Public Comments

If you would like to make public comments at the 2013 Proposed Tax Levy Public Hearing,  please plan to arrive at the Rosalie Jones Administration Center no later than 7:00 pm to sign up to speak.   Another option to sign up to speak is to send your name and address to Dr. Lisa Hichens atlisa.hichens@bps101.net.  Each individual will be given up to three minutes to speak.

Groups of citizens who elect a spokesperson to comment on their behalf may make arrangements for public comments with Dr. Lisa Hichens at lisa.hichens@bps101.net in advance of the meeting.   Additional time may be granted to groups who provide advance notice.
