Big Week in Store for GHS Class of 2013

Graduation and Baccalaureate for the seniors, final exams and the start of summer school approaches for the underclassmen.

It's a wild a crazy week for Geneva High School's class of 2013, culminating with graduation on Sunday. For the underclassmen, it's a week of finals and the option of summer school approaching.

Here's the schedule, courtesy of Geneva School District 304.

Baccalaureate Ceremony—7:30 p.m. Friday, May 24, at the First Baptist Church of Geneva's West Campus on Keslinger Road.

  • Tickets are not required for this event. Graduates participating in the Baccalaureate Ceremony are required to wear their caps, gowns, and medallions and asked to report to the church by 7 p.m. The Geneva High School Varsity Choir and Orchestra will also participate in the ceremony. 

Graduation—2 p.m. Sunday, May 26, at Geneva High School 

  • The Class of 2013 Commencement Ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 26, in the Contest Gym. The doors will open at 1 p.m. Seating is available on a first come, first serve basis. Only those with tickets will be permitted to enter the gym. Graduating seniors must report to the Mack Olson Gym by 1 p.m. 

Memorial Day—Monday, May 27: No School

Final Exams—May 28, 29 and 30

  • Normal a.m. bus routes will run on Tuesday, May 28, through Friday, May 31. Normal p.m. bus routes will depart 30 minutes after the last final exam on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. 

Spring Sports Awards—5 p.m. dinner and 6 p.m. awards Wednesday, May 29, at Burgess Field

  • A picnic supper precedes the awards presentation—all occurring at Burgess Field. In the event of rain, the program and picnic will be moved to the GHS cafeteria and contest gym. The schedule is altered this year, due to finals week, with food at 5 p.m. and awards at 6 p.m.
  • Cost is $2 for individuals and $5 for families for brats, hot dogs, potato salad, chips, dessert and drinks. Eating is not a requirement for attendance. 

Final Exam Make-Up Day—Friday, May 31

  • An East side and West side bus will depart GHS at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 31.

Summer School—Session 1 Monday, June 3
