Katherine Lemke, a fifth-grader at Mill Creek Elementary School, is the featured young artist in the September edition of Arts and Activities Magazine, the nation’s leading magazine for art education. Only 10 students nationwide are selected for this honor each year.

“Katherine is amazing and truly deserves this honor,” said Sarah Brady, Katherine’s art teacher at Mill Creek Elementary School.  “She has a great eye for art. She knows when to add more details to balance out a composition or just the right color combinations to catch a viewer’s eye.”

In a nearly two-year process, Katherine’s art was selected not only for the magazine’s feature but also for the magazine’s cover. Katherine’s feature in the September magazine is attached.

“We feel grateful that Mrs. Brady recognized Katherine’s talent and helped her improve on those talents and then gave her the opportunity to be published in the magazine,” said Laura Lemke, Katherine’s mother. “It was a really great experience all around.”
