Photo Gallery: Almost 500 Seniors Get Ready to Graduate From Geneva High School

Baccalaureate is at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church of Geneva and the big event is Sunday at the high school.

Let the pomp and circumstance begin.

Almost 500 Geneva seniors will walk down the aisle and pick up their diplomas Sunday—one of the biggest graduating classes in Geneva High School history.

I had a chance to see the preparations firsthand Friday morning at the high school, and you have to appreciate the work that goes into orchestrating an event of this size. Geneva High School Principal Tom Rogers coordinated the practice session Friday, going through the program step-by-step, leading the seniors—who had just returned from a 7:30 a.m. breakfast at Piper's Banquets in Aurora—through the ceremony like a precision drill team.

The seniors look loose, and I think we can expect a top-notch performance at Baccalaureate Ceremony (7:30 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church) and the Graduation Ceremony (2 p.m. Sunday at the high school.)

I was busy shooting photos, but I think Tom Rogers told the group that 2,000 to 2,500 spectators—in addition to the senior class—would fill the gymnasium on Sunday.

Just so you can get your graduation game face on, here are photos from the graduation rehearsal. We'll add video later if time allows. We'll also have photo stories of the Baccalaureate and graduation ceremonies, courtesy of Tara Knott and Garrett Lance.
