Powder Puff Football Game Tops List of Wednesday Homecoming Events

The Powder Puff football game is at 7 p.m. today. Here's a summary of the week's happenings for a Homecoming with a Hollywood theme.

Homecoming in Geneva isn't just the football game on Friday.

There are a week's worth of events started Sunday with window painting and end unofficially on Saturday with the Homecoming dance and a bunch of reunion parties.

There are two big reunion bashes planned. One's mine and one's my sister Tinya's. Hers is the big 5-0 reunion, which will include an array of activities including the big bash at the Mill Race Inn and a flamboyant entry in Friday's Homecoming parade. If you know of more reunion activities, please post them under events and announcements on Geneva Patch and shoot me an e-mail at rickn@patch.com.

The 2010 Homecoming theme is "Vikings in Hollywood" and as usual each class has a subtheme for its float and spirit activities.  Freshmen will represent Rocky, sophomores Shrek, juniors Star Wars and seniors Harry Potter.

Student organizations painted windows in downtown Geneva at noon Sunday.  Spirit days will take place throughout the week: Monday is "Dress Your Movie Day," Tuesday is "Hollywood Glamour" or "Pajama Day," Wednesday is "Class Color Day," Thursday is "Hollywood Look-A-Like Contest" and Friday is "Blue and White Day."

The girls' Powder Puff Football game will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday on Burgess Field.  There's a $2 entry fee and no charge for any girl wearing a Powder Puff Girls shirt.

The PTO will sponsor a free barbecue at 5:30 p.m. Thursday followed by a pep rally at 7:30 p.m. at Burgess Field.  A dunk tank, student/faculty games and the royalty will be announced followed by a bonfire.

The Student Council will host the parade at 2 p.m. Friday. A new route is scheduled for east on Stevens Street, south on Anderson Boulevard, east on State Street, north on Third Street and west on Stevens back to school.

The Homecoming dance will be from 7-10 p.m. Saturday in the contest gymnasium. Tickets are $20 and sold during lunches Wednesday, Thursday and Friday the week of Homecoming.
