6 Geneva Schools to Be Honored for Academic Excellence

A Thursday presentation will acknowledge Geneva's place on the state honor roll.

Six Geneva schools will be recognized in a presentation Thursday by Illinois State Superintendent of Education Christopher A. Koch for being named to the 2010 Illinois Honor Roll, which includes schools that are achieving academic excellence or which continue to make academic progress.

Geneva elementary schools receiving honors include , , , and . is also being honored.

In total, 19 schools in St. Charles, Geneva and Batavia will be recognized during a presentation at 1:30 p.m. at Munhall Elementary School, 1400 S. 13th Ave. in St. Charles.

St. Charles elementary schools receiving honors include Bell-Graham, Ferson Creek, Fox Ridge, Lincoln, Munhall, Norton Creek and Wasco. Haines Middle School in St. Charles also is being honored.

Batavia elementary schools receiving honors include Alice Gustafson, Grace McWayne Hoover Wood,  J.B. Nelson and Louise White. 

The local schools are among 834 statewide that the Illinois State Board of Education has recognized for achievements in 2010.
