Oswego Student Wins Congressional Art Competition

Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Randy Hultgren (IL-14) was thrilled today to meet with the 14th District winner of the 2014 Congressional Art Competition, Ailysh Cooper of Oswego, IL, who traveled to Washington, D.C. to see her artwork on display in the U.S. Capitol. It will hang there for an entire year.

“I am grateful to every student—all 36 of them—for submitting outstanding entries for this year’s Congressional Art Competition. I would especially like to congratulate Ailysh for her winning entry,” said Rep. Hultgren. “I’m excited she plans to use her talents to serve our community to teach art to high school students. Through her work, we can look forward to the next generation of art competition winners!”

The Congressional Art Competition was created in 1982, and hundreds of thousands of high school students have participated. This year a record number of high school students from the 14th District submitted entries. Hultgren previously announced the winners at a reception in Batavia, IL on May 2. More information is available on the Congressional Art Competition website.
