Pretty sure social service agencies, the courts, and schools will be closed on Monday morning. They all should just post closing now so people can prepare.

Makes sense to me Martha. Government agencies don't exactly do things efficiently unfortunately

Is there a reason I'm not getting that schools are not already closed? If they are going to stay open regardless of temperature fine, make that announcement, but it doesn't appear that the forecast is changing. If there is a strong chance they will cancel then just make the decision and do it already so parents can prepare. I don't feel too bad for teachers finding out last minute(just plan on going to work like you do every Monday) but most people with kids are working and need to make arrangements if they suddenly will have kids home. If it turns out to only be -30 instead of -40 I think people will understand the cancellation still.

I agree, parents need time and it is silly not to be notified by now. Some school dist are already posting closings. I also feel sorry for people that are doing court business and other services, just say now that things will be closed. If I were in charge I would make a call, I was a parent with school age kids once, and I had a full time job so I know how it is.
