Dangerous Cold, Wind Chill Advisory Wednesday Night — Down to 30 Below

The National Weather Service Chicago says wind chills will drop to 20 below by 10 p.m. Wednesday and to 28 below by daybreak Thursday.

The National Weather Service Chicago has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for Kane County, in effect from 7 p.m. Wednesday night and continuing to noon Thursday.

Dangerously cold temperatures combined with gusty winds of 25 mph to 30 mph will create a perfect storm of cold nearing 30 below by Thursday morning.

The wind chilll will get to -20 to -25 by Wednesday night and is predicted to be -22 to -28 by daybreak.

The gusty winds will create areas of blowing and drifting snow.

Remember — as if you haven't heard this broken record before — that frostbite can occur in minutes. If you must venture outdoors, wear a hat and gloves.

Stay posted to the School District website and Patch for updates on possible school closings.
