QuickStory: Vogelsberg Named Geneva Mayor Pro Tem

Geneva 3rd Ward Alderman Dawn Vogelsberg is unanimously approved as mayor pro tem. She follows 5th Ward Alderman Craig Maladra.

Geneva 3rd Ward Alderman Dawn Vogelsberg was named Geneva mayor pro tem at Monday night's City Council meeting.

Vogelsberg succeeds 5th Ward Alderman Craig Maladra in that position.

The resolution says Vogelsberg will hold the position from May 7, 2012, through May 5, 2013, and the honor is granted "in recognition of service to the citizens of the City of Geneva."

(2) When in the opinion of the City Council, an emergency exists in the city at a time when the mayor is absent from the city.

(3) When the mayor cannot act upon business matters of the city due to any physical or mental disabilities, or conflicts of interest of the mayor.

Vogelsberg has been a Geneva alderman for nine years.

Vogelsberg was named , along with two others, in October 2010. She is the executive director of the Paul Ruby Foundation for Parkinson's Research and a St. Peter Church volunteer. She co-chaired the 60 Men Who Cook fundraiser and served on the Tri-Com board.

Another important item on Monday's agenda was a resolution to approve a two-year extension of the collective bargaining agreement between the city and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 196.

The city's 2012 street improvement program also was passed Monday night. Geneva Patch will follow up on this story at a later date.
