Tri-Cities Talk: Residents Weigh In On Controversial Tactics of LaRouche Demonstrators

Tri-Cities residents, Patch wants to hear from you on the issues that affect you and your neighbors.

Welcome to Tri-Cities Talk—a feature in which we ask our Facebook fans to share their views on current issues facing Geneva, Batavia and St. Charles.

Every week, we get the conversation started by taking a look back at a question we asked the Tri-Cities community on local Patch Facebook pages.

Lyndon LaRouche supporters set up camp in front of the Geneva post office Wednesday with signs that show President Barack Obama with a Hitler mustache and others that read messages including "No More Bailouts," "Dump Wall $treet" and "Save NASA, Impeach Obama." Supporters of the LaRouche PAC have been spotted in many other locations in the Tri-Cities area in recent months. That brings us to this week's question.

What is your impression of this group, their approach and their message? Are they on target, downright offensive or somewhere in between?

See what people had to say, then share your two cents by joining the conversation in the comments section below.

Vicki Bellafiore Williams: People who depict President Obama with a Hitler mustache, implying that Obama is somehow like Hitler, have a serious defect in their thinking processes. And they probably wouldn't recognize fascism if it ran up and bit them in the butt. Why take offense at ignorant people? — Batavia Patch Facebook

Mike Bruno: A basic rule in debate: The first one to invoke Hitler loses. — Geneva Patch Facebook

Marc Kwas: They can't be arrested because they are guaranteed the right to peaceful protest. Does anyone care about the Constitution anymore? Sorry folks, the government can't protect you. It's called life and you could drop dead reading this. Please stop eating away at liberty for the sake of imaginary safety. — St. Charles Patch Facebook

Terry Jean Bradley-Stephano: Most of us remember a time when you RESPECTED the Office of the President whether you agreed or not with his political affiliation....and not "knock" them until they left Office....now, I see outright MEAN and borderline insanity popping out everywhere over a man who had a LOT to clean up when he came in Office and did accomplish a LOT so far...like him or not, you DON'T have to name call, slander or embarrass yourselves in the name of free speech...tsk! — Batavia Patch Facebook

David Hubbartt: Trying to depict someone, something, or an ideology by negativity has never been effective in gaining my attention or support. Tell me what is GOOD about your product or stance, using positive selling points in your favor, not negative points about what you believe about someone or something. — Geneva Patch Facebook

Ute Westphal: Just dumb. Not to be taken seriously by me! — St. Charles Patch Facebook

Ginny McGinnerson: Anyone who equates anyone who HASN'T murdered millions with Hitler is a default moron. — Geneva Patch Facebook

Tracy Ryder: I wonder if they did this to Bush? — St. Charles Patch Facebook

So where do you stand on the issue? Tell us in the comments.
