State Candidates to Speak at League Forum Monday in Geneva

The 25th State Senate and 50th State Representative District candidates to be featured during event at Geneva High School.

On Monday, Oct. 22, the League of Women Voters of Central Kane County will present a candidates forum featuring two contested races for state offices in the Nov. 6 General Election. The event will begin at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at Geneva High School, 416 McKinley St., Geneva.  The public is invited to come and ask questions of the candidates.

The forum will feature candidates for the 25th State Senate District, Jim Oberweis (R) and Corinne Pierog (D); and 50th State Representative District Andrew Bernard (D) and Kay Hatcher (R).

A primary goal of the League of Women Voters is to encourage educated and active participation of citizens in government. The League, a nonpartisan organization that never endorses candidates for any office, offers forums like this one before every election so that citizens may have an opportunity to hear candidates express their opinions in an unbiased, civil setting. It is hoped that those who attend will be better able to understand candidate capabilities and viewpoints so that they can make informed choices when they vote on Election Day.
