Special Committee of the Whole Meeting Looks at Budget

Figuring out the budget planning process is high on the special meeting agenda tonight, Monday, Jan. 30.

A special meeting of the Committee of the Whole will take place Monday, Jan. 30. It's the fifth Monday of the month, so that's one reason it's a special meeting.

It's also special because the council will discuss policy on the city budget development.

Part of the problem in the past has been trying to cut back on city spending but already approving spending in the budget plan. Timing is everything. The staff needs to know what it's spending and when. Aldermen need to know when they can tinker and cut back.
