Route 59 Traffic Signal Modernization Project to Start Monday; Lane Closures, Delays Expected

The following information comes from a city of West Chicago press release.

The City of West Chicago has been notified by the Illinois Department of Transportation that weather permitting, a traffic signal modernization project on Route 59 between Main Street and Washington Street in West Chicago will begin Monday, March 24.

Traffic signals will be installed at the intersections of IL 59 and Main Street and IL 59 and Washington Street.  Other work will include timing and progression of traffic signals and sidewalk improvements.

Temporary signals will be installed at each intersection while work is being performed. The anticipated completion date for this project is Aug. 1, 2014.

Motorists can expect delays during times when the lane closures are in effect and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signing in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
