Registration Opening Soon for KinderZone Program

The Geneva Park District will begin taking KinderZone Program registration for the 2014-15 school year on March 4, 2014.

The KinderZone program is a recreational based program designed for the kindergarten age child and is held at the Stephen D. Persinger Recreation Center, located at 3507 Kaneville Road.

This program focuses on a variety of enrichment and recreational activities including athletics, martial arts, environmental education, arts and crafts, gym activities, fitness, nutrition and more.

The goal is to provide a program that strongly supports the six pillars of “Character Counts:”trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. These six pillars and benefits of a healthy lifestyle are incorporated into all aspects of the program.

“Our program is designed to meet kindergartner’s emotional, social, creative, and physical needs. Based on the premise that children learn through play, participants will have opportunities to explore, create, discover, problem solve and communicate.  This encourages appropriate classroom skills and development,” said Kelly Rathke, Recreation Supervisor in charge of the program.

“Allowing children to play and socialize in our program is extremely beneficial in developing their socialization skills. It also gives children the opportunity to explore their independence away from home and school in a safe and supervised environment,” said Rathke.

A balance of large and small group activities are planned based on weekly themes and encourage academic, listening and social skills.

“We are excited to continue the KinderZone Program as an alternative to Full Day Kindergarten. KinderZone is an extension of our popular Kid’s Zone, before and after school program that began in Fall 2008”, said Nicole Vickers, Superintendent of Recreation.

Busing from the Geneva School District #304 schools to the program will be provided by the Geneva Park District. Registration packets are available online at www.genevparks.org or at Geneva Community Center, 710 Western Avenue.
