Quick Council Summary For World's Fastest Meeting
It takes maybe 12 minutes, but the City Council gets a lot of done Monday.
I didn't have a stopwatch on it, but if the City Council meeting Monday night lasted more than 12 minutes, I'd be surprised.
It was all consent agenda and a cloud of dust. Mayor Kevin Burns was under the weather, so 5th Ward Alderman and Mayor Pro Tem Craig Maladra stood in.
A few proclamations:

- May 15-21 is proclaimed as Police Week.
- The same week, May 15-21 is proclaimed as Public Works Week, so thank your city employees in those two departments. They catch a lot of flak as part of their jobs, but they are terrific professionals who do a lot of great work.
- Proclaim today, May 16, as Volunteer Boards and Commissions Recognition Day. More on that in a separate story.
- Recommend approval of mayor's reappointments to city of Geneva baords and commissions. Ditto on the separate story.
Among the items on the Omnibus Agenda, and recommended for approval at meeting:
- Approve contract with Engineering Enterprises Inc. for engineering services related to Elm Avenue Culvert improvements.
- Approve bid awards for transformers purchase.
- Accepted bid awards for transformer purchase.
- Authorized purchase of two squad cars for $43,764.
- OK'd sale of surplus property near 500 S. Third St. and 577 S. Third St.
There was a moment of silence—and the city flag was at half staff today—in honor of former Batavia City Attorney John Noble.
