Post Office Prices to Increase in 2013

It will cost more to mail postcards and one ounce letters come Jan. 27, 2013.

Get ready to pay more at the post office next year.

The cost to mail a one ounce letter will increase to 46 cents a stamp on Jan. 27. That’s up from 45 cents in 2012. Mailing a postcard will also cost one penny more at 33 cents. The same increase was imposed in 2012.

New Domestic pricing for Priority Mail Flat Rate products are as follows:

  • Small box — $5.80
  • Medium box — $12.35
  • Large box — $16.85
  • Large APO/FPO box — $14.85
  • Regular envelope — $5.60
  • Legal envelope — $5.75
  • Padded envelope — $5.95

If you want to save a few bucks mailing one ounce letters, stock up on "forever stamps" now. They can be used any time in the future regardless of price increases at the post office.
