Obama Group to Demand Immigration Reform Thursday at Hultgren's Office

The immigration reform rally takes place at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, outside the Geneva offices of U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren.

A group that supports the political policies of President Barack Obama's campaign in 2012 will be holding a community action event Thursday to demand that Rep. Randy Hultgren move forward on comprehensive immigration reform.

The event is part of a nationwide lobbying effort during the August congressional recess by a group called Organizing for Action, whose volunteers are rallying support for action on issues including immigration reform, affordable healthcare, combating climate change, gun violence prevention and a better bargain for the middle class, among others.

The Thursday event will be held outside Hultgren’s office at 1797 West State St., Suite A, Geneva. A similar event is being staged at 2 p.m. outside 16th District Rep. Adam Kinzinger’s office in Ottawa.

According to a press release issued Tuesday, "OFA’s 'Action August' volunteers will make it clear to their representatives in Washington that they expect them to put the American people before D.C. politics."

The group argues that comprehensive immigration reform will create jobs, grow the U.S. economy, strengthen the middle class, and reaffirm and expand the American dream.

"OFA-Illinois volunteers refuse to let the House to stand in the way of our country's future," the press release says.
