Milk, Band Fees Going Up—But School District 304 Hold the Line on the Rest

Got students who get milk?

Then you'll be paying an extra dime per carton next year. You'll also pay a little more if you've got kids in the band.

But with those exceptions, Geneva School District 304 is holidng the line on student fees for the 2013-14 school year.

School District 304 Assistant Superintendent for Business Services Donna Oberg said at last week's School Board meeting that the course fees for high school programs will remain the same with the exception of these recommended music fee increases: 

• Percussion Methods $45 to $50.
• Concert Band $35 to $40.
• Symphonic Band $50 to $60.
• Wind Symphony $50 to $60.

"The recommended student participation fee is used predominantly for uniform cleaning and maintenance, and school instrument maintenance/replacement. The uniforms are getting very old and require a lot more maintenance/care. Many of the school owned instruments are getting older and are requiring more maintenance as well," Oberg said in a memo.

The fee being charged for milk will not cover the increase for next year. The price is 50 cents per carton this year and will be increased to 60 cents per carton for the 2013-2014 school year. 

Recommended Fees for 2013-2014 School Year 

Elementary Registration Fee 

• Kindergarten $ 37.50 
• Grades 1-5 $ 75.

Middle School 

• Registration Fee $ 95. 
• Student Activity Fee $ 25.
• Assignment Book $ 6.
• Lock Fee $ 5.

High School 

• Registration Fee $120.
• Student Activity Fee $ 50.
• Lock Fee $ 6.
• Graduation Fee $ 45.
