Malone Funeral Home Plans to Expand Parking Lot

The Geneva Plan Commission is looking over an amendment to the comprehensive plan that would allow Malone Funeral Home to expand its parking lot into the 14 Nebraska St. property. It's also considering the regulation of the large, outdoor "donation boxes"

Dennis Malone is seeking a zoning change and amendment to the comprehensive plan that would allow expansion of the parking lot onto the property at 14 Nebraska St.

According to the Plan Commission agenda, the amendment is needed to change the future land use designation of the 14 Nebraska St. property from single-family residential to "transitional mix use."

The request also would continue the special use to allow the continued use of the property located at 324 E. State St. as a funeral home.

The Plan Commission also is expected to take a look at the regulation or prohibition of donation boxes in all zoning districts. Donation boxes are the large cannisters, often found in church or business parking lots, where people can drop off recyclables or clothing.
