Kane County Launches 'Collecting People to Build a Stronger County'
Initiative uses social media to connect people of like interests in 10 categories.
Kane County is trying an innovative use of social media to bring people from all over the county together in 10 categories.

The initiative provides a website and Facebook page to bring Kane County residents together based on their interests, and the activities that surround those interests and passions.
"We all are naturally attracted to others who share our interests and passions," said a Kane County press release in advance of a 11:30 a.m. Nov. 12 press conference.
There are 10 initial networks: Athletes, Employers, Gardeners, Global Ambassadors, Green Advocates, Moms and Dads, Pet Owners, Taxpayers, Youth, and Veterans.
“Kane County Connected draws people together based on what they naturally enjoy doing. This highlights the county as a premiere place to work, live and invest,” Kane County Board Chairman Chris Lauzen said, “The goal is to
weave a strong community fabric with our greatest asset: people.”
Kane County Connected encourages participation through its primary website,
and its corresponding Facebook page.
Each of the ten community networks can be accessed from the primary webpage, as well as their individual facebook pages.
Another attractive feature is the community calendar where local events and activities are posted.
“We’re looking forward to healthy participation as awareness of Kane County Connected grows,” Community Outreach Coordinator, Cheryl Maraffio said.
