For a lot of folks, this installment wasn't much fun. Even though the assessment might have gone down, your might have .
About 2,000 taxpayers use the drop box, and that's one of the best ways to make sure your check arrives on time. If you don't like the drop box, you can pay at a number of approved financial institutions. Here's a list, courtesy of the Kane County website.

You can pay by credit card, but it costs an additional 2.5 percent of the payment made. (I'm guessing you won't choose that option.)
You can pay by e-check, but that costs you $3.
