Labor Day's Over, Geneva — Now, Pay Your Tax Bill!

The deadline is Sept. 3, 2013. Make your checks payable to "Kane County Treasurer."

Why is it that the property-tax bills are always due right after three-day weekends?

Enjoy Memorial Day? Good, now pay your tax bill.

Celebrate Labor Day? Terrific, but you'd better get to work writing that check to the Kane County Treasurer's Office.

Of course, if your property-tax payment comes right out of your mortgage, you don't have to worry about driving over to the Kane County Government Center by the end of the day Tuesday.

About 2,000 taxpayers use the drop box, but if you prefer, you can pay at a number of approved financial institutions. Here's a list, courtesy of the Kane County website.

You can pay by check or pay by credit card, but it costs an additional 2.5 percent of the payment made to pay using the card.

You can pay by e-check, but that costs you $3.

You can pay by stopping by or the Treasurer's Office:
