11:58 p.m.—Geneva Election Blog 2011: Winners are Open Space Referendum,Stith/Nowak/McCormick for School Board, Vander Veen Park Board, Brown First Ward, Kilburg Third Ward

Here are some random observations, thoughts, trivia and fun facts on election night 2011.

Some miscellaneous thoughts on election night, April 5, 2011. We'll see how long I can keep this up before getting blisters on my fingers.

11:58 p.m.—Just added up the Aurora Election Commission and Kane County totals, and the Kane County Forest Preserve District ends up a winner.

11:20 p.m.— was contentious at times, but two incumbents—Mary Stith and Kelly Nowak—take the top two spots. Newcomer Mike McCormick edges incumbent Leslie Juby and challenger George Jackowiec. Robert Cabeen is sixth.

10:10 p.m.—over challenger Sherry O'Berry. It's tough to beat the incumbent and Park Board president.

9:55 p.m.— stays on as First Ward alderman, defeating challenges from Library Board member Esther Barclay and young Geneva activist Zarchary J. Ploppert.

9:15 p.m.—Dean Kilburg defeats Becky Hurby in race for Third Ward.

8:35 p.m.—Turnout appears to be crumby, as expected. Montgomery Patch editor Andre Salles had the over-under at 20 percent. About half of the Geneva precincts are counted, and some are over that and some under. Shame on Geneva Precinct 15, which cast 45 ballots out of a total 592 registered voters, or 7.6 percent, according to the Kane County clerk's website. (Although I'm finding that number a little hard to believe.) voting at Chesapeake Commons. Congrats to Precinct 7—Pepper Valley, standing at 23.21 percent.
