In a Wednesday press release, Russell called the appointed "a positive step in the right direction for the Kane County Coroner’s Office."
“I don’t know Chief Sauer, but I applaud the choice. I know as a former police chief he will bring needed discipline and accountability that only an experienced police officer can bring. I look forward to meeting with Brad Sauer in the future. He is a logical choice, given that all Illinois coroners are peace officers by statute. Now, we can begin healing the damaged reputation of the Kane County Coroner's Office."
