Fifth Third Bank Gets OK for New Sign

West State Street business goes for the blue color and gets the Historic Preservation Commission's OK.

The Historic Preservation Commision gave its OK last week to a new sign for Fifth Third Bank on West State Street—with a few provisos.

At the Tuesday, Feb. 21, HPC meeting, Fifth Third Bank representative Brian Jones showed the commission a plan for a blue sign that will be mounted over the windows.

Three bronze, gooseneck lights will illuminate the sign at night.

The HPC OK'd the plan so long as the transom beneath the plywood isn't damaged and fasteners to not damage any of the historical materials. Commissioners also requested that the font of the address on the door match the font of the Fifth Third Bank sign.

The sign carries the Fifth Third Bank's blue color and theme. It will be 168 inches wide by 40.5 inches tall. The letters are raised, quarter-inch aluminum, about 9.5 inches tall and 140 inches wide from the F in Fifth to the K in Bank.
