City Wants Your Input on Downtown Development and More
ICONS FOR SALE: A 15-member task force is looking at development opportunities and future growth downtown. But that's just the tip of the communication iceberg. Here are a few ways to offer your two cents.
A 15-member citizen task force is looking at the downtown district's future land uses, and the city of Geneva is creating a downtown master plan that will be the blueprint for downtown development.
City Development Director Dick Untch said the city is hosting a series of workshop and meetings to address the issue and get input from the public and private sector:
- A Downtown Community workshop—7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, in the training room of the Public Works Department, 1800 South Street.
- A Downtown Property Owners Workshop—10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, in City Council Chambers at City Hall.
- A Merchants and Business Owners Workshop—7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, at City Hall.
"In development of a downtown master plan, that's one of the big topics of discussion: to establish consensus and city policy regarding the future of these buildings," Untch said.
