Burns Forms Committee to Explore Bid for Kane County Board Chair

Geneva Mayor Kevin Burns announces that he'll form an "exploratory committee" to see whether a run for County Board chairman is in his future.

Geneva Mayor Kevin Burns announced Thursday the formation of an exploratory committee to seek the Republican nomination for the office of Kane County Board chairman.

Burns, a three-time elected mayor of Geneva, said in an e-mail press release that he "welcomes the opportunity to travel the county, visiting with citizens, business owners and non-profit leaders to share his experience as chief executive officer of Geneva as well as learn firsthand what people expect of the next Kane County Board chairman."

"Kane County government is uniquely positioned to be a partner with industry officials, municipal leaders, social service providers, environment and open space advocates; and members of the agricultural community. Therefore, the next Kane County Board chairman must be a tireless advocate for policies that ensure Kane County remains financially strong, attractive to business retention and expansion, and respectful of our environment, open space and agricultural resources that are key to our quality of life."

Burns said the future of Kane County is "inextricably linked to strong public safety, job growth, efficient service delivery and transparency, accountability and stewardship of taxpayers’ money."

"To remain relevant, reliable and responsive to the needs of those it serves, it's essential that the next Kane County Board chairman lead by example and be prepared to build an environment based on trust, mutual respect and appreciation for the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead for all of Kane County," said Burns.

"I'm confident that my experience, passion and approach to public service qualify me to serve as the next Kane County Board chairman,” Burns said.

Burns can be reached by email at burns4kanecounty@gmail.com.
