Burgess Field Work Begins; Follow Progress With Online 'Construction Cam'

The construction cam is really kind of cool. You can watch the daily progress as Burgess Field is transformed from natural grass to artificial turf. Here's how.

Burgess Field renovation work is under way, and Geneva High School has an interesting new way for you to follow the progress.

The OxBlue Construction Camera gives you an opportunity to watch the day-to-day (and minute-to-minute, if you like) progress. There are time lapse options, or you can peruse by day.

On Feb. 13, Geneva's Board of Education approved a $1.1 million bid from Nicholas & Associates, Inc., of Mt. Prospect, to make the long-awaited .

The project includes expanding the track from six lanes to eight lanes, installing a new FieldTurf brand surface, as well as demolition work, asphalt and concrete construction, fencing and rough and fine surface grading.

Work started Monday, May 21, and a "substantial" part of it is expected to be completed by Aug. 17, in time for the fall sports season.

Offsetting the cost to taxpayers is about $45,000 raised by the  and $500,000 received from an anonymous donor. That donor is not the same person who offered to . The new donor came through with a payment on Dec. 28 after the original donor's payment was delayed.
