Tom & Eddie's Brings Police and Burgers Together for a Good Cause
Geneva police partnered with Tom & Eddie's on Saturday, Aug 25 and raised more than $2,500 for Special Olympics Illinois during a one-day event titled, 'Burgers & Badges'
Uniformed officers from the Geneva Police Department served Tom & Eddie’s customers on Saturday, Aug. 25 as part of fundraiser titled “Burgers & Badges” at the Shops at Geneva Commons, 1042 Commons Drive. Tom & Eddie’s donated ten percent of net sales for the day, more than $2,500 to the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois.
In addition to the ten percent donation by Tom & Eddie’s, raffle tickets were sold to win a 2013 Harley-Davidson. In October, six winners’ names will be drawn, and the six will be invited to Special Olympics headquarters in Bloomington, IL, where each will be given a key. Only one key will start the Harley. The other five winners will receive 50-inch big screen TVs worth $1,000 each.
Geneva has proved itself a lucky town. Last year, a Geneva resident—John Reading—won the Harley. He bought his winning ticket at the fundraiser.
The Kane County Chiefs of Police Association began the Harley-Davidson raffle in 1998. It has been held every year since, and to date, $830,000 has been raised for the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois.
Commitment to the community is important to Tom & Eddie’s co-founders Tom Dentice and Ed Rensi. Since Aug. of 2010, Tom & Eddie's has donated more than $50,000 to its local charity partners.
Tom & Eddie’s provides its customers with fresh, never frozen, 100 percent premium Angus gourmet burgers, personal customer service, catering service and a relaxed and happy dining experience. Locations are in Lombard, Geneva, Deerfield, Vernon Hills and coming soon - Naperville.
