Update: Chance of Rain Lingers This Weekend After Strong Tri Cities Rainstorms

The National Weather Service released some special weather statements for a storm in Kane County. A chance of rain is in the forecast this weekend.

The Tri Cities was walloped with rain during a brief storm Thursday night.

The first strong precip of the spring season came down over Batavia, prompting the National Weather Service to send out a special weather statement for a storm headed for the area Thursday.

Doppler radar displayed a strong thunderstorm near Elburn, moving at 25 mph.

At 7:37 p.m. Thursday, scanners reported a possible funnel cloud sighting near I-88.

The NWS ended the alert at about 9 p.m. Thursday.

The day will be overcast with a 60 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Temps will reach a high of 75 degrees.

Mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of rain, and a low of 50 degrees.

Saturday Daytime

Mostly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of rain in the morning and afternoon. High of 72 degrees.

Saturday Night

Partly cloudy with a low of 54 degrees.

Sunday, March 25

Partly cloudy and breezy during the day with a high of 79 degrees. The night will be partly cloudy, then clear and breezy in the evening with a low of 37 degrees.

Monday, March 26

Mostly cloudy in the morning, partly cloudy and breezy in the afternoon with a high of 57 degrees. Mostly cloudy and overcast in the evening with a low of 41 degrees.
