VIDEO, UPDATE: No One Injured Gary Lane Warehouse Fire

The cause of the Monday afternoon fire is undetermined. No damage estimate is available at this time.

The Geneva Fire Department responded to a fire on the roof of a vacant warehouse at 4:44 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at 2080 Gary Lane after personnel at a neighboring business reported the blaze.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a fire surrounding a metal exhaust chimney stack on the warehouse roof. The fire was confined to the immediate area surrounding the exhaust and did not spread to other parts of the roof or building.

The chimney stack served as part of an exhaust ventilation system for a former paint spray booth operation inside the building. Firefighters were able to extinguish both the fire on the roof and a small fire inside a confined area of the spray booth without any additional damage to the property.
