VIDEO: Geneva and Batavia Police Stake Out Rooftop for Special Olympics

Police from Batavia and Geneva were among hundreds of police officers who spent hours on the roofs of Dunkin' Donuts across Chicagoland Friday.

Hundreds of police officers from all over the Chicago area joined efforts to raise money for Special Olympics Friday. From 5 a.m. to around 2 p.m., police climbed up to the rooftops of Dunkin' Donuts in their communities and spent hours there.

Batavia police said officers from the Fox Valley area were happy to join efforts at Dunkin' Donuts in their neighborhoods.

"Everybody's basically trying to pool all their money into one big pot for the greater good," said Batavia Police Sgt. Eddie Perez. "It's a great thing, Special Olympics—the way it's put together, all the good things that it does for the kids—it's something that's just a pleasure to try to be a part of."

Although there is no Dunkin' Donuts in Geneva, that didn't stop the police there from getting involved.

"From Geneva, we did have a Dunkin' Donuts, but unfortunately that closed about five years ago. Batavia opened up this one recently, so they invited us to come down to help out, so we're happy to be here," said Geneva Police Sgt. Dan Kott.
