Vandalism and Criminal Damage Among Police Reports

Police blotter: A few standard items of criminal damage and one unusual case of phone wires being tampered with.

Minor vandalism and property damage seem to go hand-in-hand with warm weather and schools' summer vacation, but the first item is a little different, anyway. It sounds almost like something out of a spy novel, horror film or suspense thriller. Maybe Wait Until Dark.

Damaged Telephone Wire—Someone pulled the telephone wire out of the service box on the west side of a home in the 300 block of Chalmers Street sometime between 11:50 p.m. June 10 and 10 a.m. June 11, reports said. The resident told police she heard her dog barking at around 12:15 a.m. June 11 and found when she woke up in the morning that she was unable to use her telephone. She said her neighbor was able to fix the telephone line.

Vandalism—Someone threw about a dozen eggs at a home in the 1900 block of Sheffield Lane sometime between midnight and 7 a.m. June 10, reports said. The owner washed the eggs off the doors of the residence and his vehicle before police arrived, so police were uncertain there was any damage done.

Criminal Damage to Property—Someone damaged two landscape lights along the brick walkway of a home in the 800 block of Sunset Road sometime between 10 p.m. June 4 and 6:45 a.m. June 5, reports said. The cost to repair the items is estimated at $100.
