Update: Route 25 Home Invasion was Drug-Related, 3 People Charged

The three residents all live in the apartment where the Oct. 2 home invasion took place. Here's the latest.

Three residents of an apartment where a home invasion took place earlier this month now face drug charges, police announced today.

Two of the three men charged were shot during an Oct. 2 home invasion at their apartment, located on the 100 block of South River Road in North Aurora near the Fox River.

"The investigation has determined that this home invasion was drug-related," a North Aurora Police Department statement said. "No further information is available at this time as to the offenders in the home invasion."

Drug-related charges were approved and arrest warrants were issued for the three residents of the apartment where the home invasion occurred.

Baldemar A. Aguilar, 23, and Deanna Hernandez, 21, each of the 100 block of South River Road, were both charged with one count each of the following:

  • Possession of a controlled substance, a class 4 felony
  • Possession of cannabis 10-30 grams, a class A misdemeanorĀ
  • Unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor

Stephen F. Kolar, 22, of the 100 block of South River Road, was charged with one count each of the following:

  • Manufacture/delivery of cannabis 30-500 grams, a class 3 felony
  • Possession of cannabis 30-500 grams, a class 4 felony
  • Unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor

Investigators on Friday afternoon were making arrangements with attorneys representing the three residents for their surrender.

At about 7 a.m. on Oct. 2, someone knocked on the door of Aguilar and Kolar's apartment. Kolar opened the door and one of two men "pointed a gun at him and demanded to be given an item that they were looking for," according to a previous North Aurora Police statement.

One of the two men eventually shot Kolar in the arm and Aguilar in the arm and chest. The two men then fled the scene in an unknown direction. Kolar and Aguilar provided this suspect description.

The investigation remains open. Anyone with information about any of these crimes is asked to call North Aurora Police detectives at 630-897-8705, ext. 610. Anonymous tips may be left by calling 630-897-8705 and choosing option 3.
