Firefighter Injured in Tuesday Afternoon Blaze in St. Charles

The unnamed firefighter was taken to Delnor Hospital for 'non-life-threatening injuries.'

Update 1:58 p.m. A firefighter was hospitalized while trying to battle a St. Charles house fire Tuesday afternoon, one official said.

The unnamed firefighter was taken to Delnor Hospital for treatment of "non-life-threatening injures," said St. Charles Asstistant Chief Joe Schelstreet. He declined to give out the firefighter's name.

Tuesday's strong winds contributed to the heavily-involved fire crews found when they responded just after 12:30 p.m. to the 2000 block of Cambridge Drive. The home appears to have extensive damage to the front and upstairs rooms.
