The Batavia man facing an attempted robbery charge was released from the Kane County Jail on Wednesday following a court appearance.

Schulz, of the 700 block of Houston Street, is charged with one count of attempted armed robbery—no firearm, according to court records. At about 2 a.m. on July 10, Schulz approached a woman in a vehicle outside the , 130 S. Batavia Ave., police said.

Police did not know whether Schulz was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the incident. About 10 hours after the incident, Schulz walked into the Batavia Police Department by himself and said he was the man in the attempted robbery at the bank on South Batavia Avenue.

Schulz's case will be in court next on July 19 for a status hearing, according to court records.
