And now, ladies and gentlemen, you will be amazed as this freezer and Bow-Flex disappear magically, before your very eyes ...

OK, they didn't disappear magically, or before the eyes of the owner for that matter, but two rather large, metal items vanished from a Geneva driveway last week.

According to Geneva police reports, someone took an upright freezer and a Bow-Flex exercise machine from the driveway of a home in the 100 block of North Harrison Street sometime between 9 p.m. Jan. 19 and 4 p.m. Jan. 20.

The victim told police he was in the process of moving, and carried the freezer and the exercise machine from his home onto his driveway at around 8 a.m. Jan. 19. The items were on the driveway when he left the residence at around 9 p.m. When he returned, the items were gone.

The freezer and exercise machine had an estimated value of $400 in total, the report said.

This item might be worth a report to the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, which recently announced the creation of a Law Enforcement Advisory Council.

This was precisely how the waste hauler told us to get rid of our broken treadmill we were unable to repair. I rolled it out to the end of the driveway and in less than half an hour it was being loaded onto a truck by scavengers.
