Unusual One-Car Accident Oct. 1 on Union Street

The following information was supplied by the Geneva Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A GMC Serria driven by Nick Porter of Carbondale struck a tree of a residence in the 700 block of Union Street then continued to run head on into a utility pole around 3:15 a.m. Oct. 1, Geneva police reports said.

There was an injury or tow due to the crash, according to the report. The Serria was eastbound on Union Street approaching Richards, where it went through the intersection and into the yard.

When the officer arrived, Porter “was lying across the front seats of the vehicle with his feet sticking out the passenger door,” the report said. The report noted that there were no skid marks or any signs of braking prior to impact.
