OMG PD: Underage Drinking, Eggs on Us, Ticket Toss

Here's a round-up of recent and bizarre police report items from the area.

Underage Drinking

A 20-year-old North Auroran and a 19-year-old Batavian were each issued complaints for unlawful consumption of an alcoholic liquor. An officer made the arrests at 2:12 a.m. on Feb. 21, according to a police report.

Jason R. Leannah, of the first block of Grace Street, North Aurora, was speeding more than 40 mph over the limit. He posted his driver's license for bond for the speeding offense. Philip R.C. Vermaas, of the 800 block of North Forest Avenue, Batavia, was issued a notice to appear in court for failure to wear a seat belt, according to the police report.

Leannah and Vermaas were each released on personal recognizance for their individual drinking offenses. They were each given March 19 court dates for all charges.

Maybe He Couldn't Hear the Officer

Elvir Hamzic, 32, of the 100 block of Lakeside Drive, was cited at 1:11 a.m. Feb. 21 at his home with disorderly conduct-noise after police responded to the address on a noise complaint. Officers said Hamzic was uncooperative and insisted he could play his music loud. He initially declined to provide police an ID, but when he did and was issued a citation, he refused to accept the ticket, which the officer placed on his floor. He then picked up the ticket and threw it out the door.

Not a fan of a light hearted headline for a blotter that includes some serious issues - a cinder block through a window, a possible peeping Tom and someone going 40 mph over in a residential area. Not funny.
