Train-Crossing Citation Leads to Marijuana Arrest in Downtown Geneva

The following information was supplied by the Geneva Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A citation for ignoring a train signal in downtown Geneva apparently led to a marijuana possession arrest and the discovery of outstanding warrants for a 26-year-old Chicago man and former resident of St. Charles.

Geneva police arrested Eduardo Perez, 26, of Chicago on charges of cannabis possession and drug-paraphernalia possession at around 10:40 a.m. May 3. Perez also was cited for disobeying a warning-signal device at a railroad crossing in the 500 block of South Third Street.

According to the complaint, Perez was in possession of a multicolored pipe and more than 2.5 grams but less than 10 grams of marijuana. He has a court date of June 19 at the Kane County Branch Court in St. Charles.

Additional documents show that Perez had a bench warrant in DuPage County going back to 2011 for driving an uninsured motor vehicle and having no valid driver’s license. Another document says his driver’s license was revoked Sept. 8, 2011, when Perez was arrested for driving under the influence. Perez had a St. Charles address at that time.
