Storms Rumble Through Night; Flood Watch Into Thursday

The National Weather Service-Chicago had a Flash Flood Warning in effect through 9 p.m. Wednesday and has a Flash Flood Watch in effect until 4 a.m. Thursday.

Reports aren't all in, but the big storms seemed to have done limited damage in Batavia and Geneva.

Metra trains were delayed by the severe weather, and there were Tri-Com reports of a fire alarm at a St. Charles motel, basement flooding and high winds.

The forecast indicates skies will clear Thursday. Here's the NWS-Chicago summary:

  • Tonight—Showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 4am. Some storms could be severe, with large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rain. Low around 57. North wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
  • Thursday—A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 75. North wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
  • Thursday Night—Mostly clear, with a low around 52. North wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.
