Thunderstorms Could Continue Through Late Morning Friday

The National Weather Service—Chicago says the storm you see outside at 9:25 a.m. includes 40 mph winds and could last to late morning.

The National Weather Service—Chicago's "Short Term Forecast" says this heavy rain at 9:25 a.m. is part of a northwest-to-southwest line of thunderstorms that will track through 10 a.m.

"VERY HEAVY RAINFALL ... WIND GUSTS TO AROUND 40 MPH AND FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING WILL OCCUR ALONG THE LEADING EDGE OF THE LINE AS IT MOVES FROM NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS INTO NORTHEASTERN ILLINOIS.

"BEHIND THE LEADING EDGE OF THE LINE OF STORMS ... MODERATE TO HEAVY RAINFALL AND OCCASIONAL CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE LATE MORNING WITH PONDING OF WATER POSSIBLE WITH THE HEAVIER THUNDERSTORMS."
