Sunday Fire Contained to Closet of Manchester Course Home in Geneva

Geneva firefighters put out a fire that starts in the closet of a home on Manchester Course.

The responded to a house fire at 885 Manchester Course at around 7:03 p.m. Sunday. 

Initial responding companies found smoke visible from the exterior of the one-story residence at 885 Manchester Course, and subsequently located a small fire inside, according to a Geneva Fire Department press release.

The fire was confined to a closet on the  floor of the residence, and no adjacent structures were threatened, Deputy Chief Mark Einwich said.

The occupants were home at the time of the fire and were able to exit the residence unharmed. There were no injuries to fire personnel on the scene.

Damage is estimated at $2,000 to the structure, and approximately $1,000 to the contents.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time. 

The Geneva Fire Department was assisted at the scene by mutual aid companies from the St. Charles, Batavia, and Elburn fire departments. Units from the Geneva Police Department also responded to the scene to assist with traffic control.
