Slippery Roads Cause All Kinds of Accidents Friday Night
Tri-Com scanner reports are piling up as fast as the actual accidents on the roads made slick by rain and ice.
Numerous Tri-Com scanner reports came in Friday with accidents and cars in the ditch on Randall Road, Kirk Road and other major thoroughfares, as drivers make their way home from work during the Friday afternoon rush.
The freezing rain continued into the night. At 8:45 p.m., the city sent a notice saying it was barricading some of the side streets on hills because autos couldn't get enough traction to get up them, and there was extreme danger coming downhill.
Reports included accidents and vehicles in ditches at Kirk and Fargo, Fargo and Country Squire, Kirk and DuKane, Lorraine and Fago, Fabyan and Western Avenue and at various intersections on State Street.
Many of the accidents included "unknown injuries."
Be careful of the hill on East State Street in Geneva.
"People coming down on the hill are spinning out on the ice," one dispatcher said at about 5:15 p.m. Friday.
The city of Geneva sent a notice saying the roads were especially bad on secondary streets such as Fargo.

Slippery sidewalks and parking lots caused a lot of falls, as well.
