Shell Casing Found Monday at Geneva High School

The origin of the casing was quickly determined, and there was no threat to the school community, officials report. Only two classes were disrupted.

An empty shell casing was found in a Geneva High School classroom Monday afternoon and immediately reported to school administrators, District 304 announced.

The casing was found at about 1:30 p.m. Monday, according to the district's message.

Precautions were taken to ensure student safety while the administration and the Geneva Police Department investigated the incident. The origin of the casing was quickly determined, and it was found there was no threat to the school community. The message did not specify the actual origin of the casing.

The casing's origin was connected to a student, and there will be no discipline, said Thomas Rogers, Geneva High School principal, to the Kane County Chronicle.

Two classes were mildly disrupted during the investigation. Students were dismissed from school as scheduled at 2:45 p.m.
