Resident Has to File Police Report to Not Be Charged for Lost Garbage Can

Victim tells police he's still being charged for the garbage cart that allegedly was dropped off by Advanced Disposal on Aug. 21.

A garbage can theft back in August was reported to Geneva police at 3:26 p.m. Jan. 4, after the victim said he was still being charged for the can by Advanced Disposal.

According to the report, a 95-gallon garbage cart was stolen sometime between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Aug. 21 outside a residence in the 2100 block of Sheffield Lane. The victim told police that the rolling garbage cart valued at $313.95 allegedly was dropped off by Advanced Disposal but he has continued to receive monthly service bills for the stolen can.

Advanced Disposal representatives advised him that he needed a police report to document the theft and exonerate him from his financial obligations.
