REPORT: Batavia Man Becomes 2nd Person To Turn Himself In For Sculpture Case

The 45-year-old resident is one of three charged with a felony after the 'Self-Made Man' sculpture topples to the ground.

One of the two Batavia men who received felony charges in connection to statue damage has stepped forward, according to the Kane County Chronicle.

Theodore Bittner, 45, turned himself in to on an outstanding warrant for criminal damage to state property.

Bittner becomes the second person to surrender for this case, and the first from Batavia. On May 6 on a similar arrest warrant.

Theodore Bittner, Thomas Bittner and Steve Piron of Sandwich, IL were charged last week in connection with the April 24 vandalizing of the “Self-Made Man” sculpture at River and State streets, according to a police report. 

Police say their investigation was extensive to identify the three men in the case.

Like Piron, Theodore Bittner's court date is scheduled for May 24.
